Troubleshooting printer problems (support analyst version)This is a featured page

Faded printing
Check toner level and that cartridges are genuine. Generic cartridges may not produce the best quality.

Dirty or smudged printing
Check whether toner is leaking or rollers are dirty. Check the fuser.

Paper jamming or not feeding
Check whether rollers still retain a rubbery, wrinkly texture. If they are smooth, replace them.

Make sure trays are set to the proper paper sizes. HP5000 printers in SOBAM have a different method to adjust paper sizes; some users forget to make adjustments.

Connectivity issues
Make sure the network cable is fully plugged in on both ends (unplug and plug it in again).

Jet Direct 615N cards are known to have problems. Reseat the card and print a configuration page to see if the printer detects the card. If all else fails, order a new one. Check if the card is under warranty.

Common replacement parts such as rollers are stored in a box in Man’s area.

If the on-site ITS technician is not able to fix a printer, contact Resolution at 415-459-0909 or scott@resoinc.com or michaelb@resoinc.com. Provide the printer model, resolution number, location, contact person and brief description of the issue.

On-site support costs $85 for black/white printers and $130 for color printers. Parts priced separately. If repair costs would exceed $350, recommend users purchase a new printer.
