The CRLF program is ideal to use but requires Mac OS 9 Classic.
If you use the
CRLF program:
1. Drag and drop the PC Eudora archived emails to the CRLF icon and it will automatically convert to Mac format.
2. You can you remove the *.mbx extension.
3. You can also associate the file with Eudora. Press Apple+I and choose Eudora under “Open with:”.
If you use the free
BBedit program:
1. Under BBEdit Lite, select “Open” under “File”.
2. Browse to find the PC Eudora archives.
3. Click on Open.
4. A new window will appear showing the text.
5. Select “Save as...” under “File”.
6. A new window will open.
7. You can change the name (and remove the *.mbx extension) and choose the location to save to.
8. Click on “Options …”.
9. For “Line breaks:”, change “DOS” to “Macintosh”.
10. Press OK.
11. Repeat the process for each file.
12. You can also associate the files with Eudora. Press Apple+I and choose Eudora under “Open with:”.
To get the archived email to appear in Eudora on the Mac, move the converted files to the user's Home folder in Documents in the Eudora folder.
If the archived emails do not appear when Eudora is opened, create a new mailbox in Eudora, exit Eudora, and move the archived email to the new mailbox. If the emails still do not appear or do not look right, make sure the files were converted correctly and placed in the correct location.
Back up the address book files NNDbase.txt and NNDbase.toc on the PC.
1. Follow the steps above to convert the file using CRLF or BBedit.
2. Rename the file as “Eudora nicknames”.
3. Move the file to the user's Home folder in Documents in the Eudora folder.
4. Open Eudora and check the address book.
