Collaboration tools (for real-time discussions) - Virtual Classroom and Lightweight ChatThis is a featured page

Requires Java-enabled browsers
Make sure that all participants have Java-enabled browsers, as the Collaboration Tools are Java applications. Users should uninstall any existing Java plug-ins before installing a new version.

Sessions are not recorded and archived by default. The leader of the session must start the recorder to create an archive.

Mac/Netscape 7
Mac users running OS X and Netscape should use Netscape 7, not Netscape 6.2. When opening the Collaboration Tools, Netscape may put the tools in the background. Check under the Window menu for the Collaboration Tools.

Safari
The Safari browser is not yet supported by Blackboard, but the Collaboration Tools should function normally in Safari as long as Pop-Up Window Blocking is disabled.

Accessible version for Mac OS 8 or 9
Mac users running OS 8 or OS 9 must use the Accessible version of the Collaboration Tool, which resembles Lightweight Chat. A link to this version appears on the launch page, which opens when Join is selected on the Collaboration Sessions page.

Links to items that appear in the Virtual Classroom, such as items in the Course Map and Group Browser, will appear in this version. Documents created on the Whiteboard may be viewed if the Instructor takes a snapshot of them, using the Snapshot button on the Whiteboard action bar. A link will be created to the snapshot for users to view it.

When a user using the Accessible version enters or exits the room, the sound of a door opening or closing will be audible to all participants.
